The Galgos have Arrived!
Adam Petraglia, Mark and Mindy Wirick, and David and Marci
Anderson made the trip to Barcelona, Spain this April to rescue five Spanish
galgos! This year, "Simba," "Televa,"
"Iggy," "Desi," and "Pulga" the puppy all hit the lottery and found their way on
to better lives with loving families both in Europe and the United States.
Adam, Marci, and David drove from Barcelona to Paris to transport five
galgos onto a better life. The
galgos all enjoyed the direct flight from Paris to Pittsburgh and the wonderful
hospitality of the Delta staff in Charles DeGaulle airport!
"Pulga" is a four month
old puppy who was a last minute addition to our mission and found her way riding
northward with us from Barcelona.
She will now call Paris her forever home!
"Iggy" is a very shy, quiet, and mature boy who now resides in Baltimore,
Maryland. "Desi" is a beautiful
brindle female who tragically had part of her nose cut off by an owner who
thought that she would be a better hunter if her nose was severed.
(This unfortunately seems to be common practice among the owners of the
galgos.) She will be living in Rhode Island.
"Televa" and "Simba" still need homes!
They will hopefully be finding their forever homes in Pittsburgh.
Both of these wonderful dogs have been playing with each other since the
day we picked them up.
Thank you to Anna Clements and Albert Sorde who connect us
with such wonderful hounds each year!
Twenty-eight hounds have found their way into loving homes since 2003
because of our work with them.
