Galgos 2007
On May 4th, David and Marci Anderson arrived at
Pittsburgh International airport with four beautiful Spanish galgos... on
May 6th, Beverly and Sydney came home with two. The galgos endured a flight
from Barcelona to Atlanta, a four hour layover, and then another hour or so
in the air from Atlanta to Pittsburgh. The weather on both dates was
picture perfect and temperatures were very comfortable for the galgos.
Each year, volunteers from SCG travel to Barcelona,
Spain at their own expense to help our Paws Across the Pond partner, SOS
Galgos. SOS Galgos is operated by Anna Clements, who has connected us with
so many wonderful companions since 2003. Anna's husband, veterinarian
Albert Sorde, works with Anna to maintain the health of the galgos who are
often transported throughout Europe and America. By law, the galgos must be
issued a "doggie passport" that includes all current vaccine information and
European microchip information. While many of our galgos have already been
adopted, here are some photos of the lucky dogs. More photos will be added
