Our Dogs
SGC transitions
each greyhound from the track into a boarding kennel and then into a permanent
home.
The
Golden Bone
Pet Resort donates a limited number of rooms for the greyhounds that enter our
program. In very rare cases, SCG may use a foster home for special needs
greyhounds. No matter how your greyhound is transitioned, it will make a "greyt"
pet. Here are some of
the things that we have discovered through using these boarding kennels.
1. At the boarding kennel, there are trained personnel to watch the greyhound
recover after recent spay or neuter surgery or other medical treatments. They
also assist with helping the greyhound adjust to a new diet.
2. Greyhounds move into a "forever" home when they are adopted, rather than
transitioning from a foster home. The greyhound's first bonding experience will
be in the home with the person(s) who adopted him/her.
3.
Using a boarding facility can
provide adopters with flexibility to schedule a visit with the greyhounds Monday
through Saturday with a SCG volunteer.
The dogs below are available for
adoption. Please contact us at

You are
ALWAYS welcome to call The Golden
Bone Pet Resort about any available hound in our program. The
staff at The Golden Bone Pet Resort enjoys caring for each hound while they
transition into a new forever home and they are experts with the greyhound as a
breed. The Golden Bone Pet Resort is proud to sponsor and facilitate the
adoptions of every retired racer that enters the SCG program. Volunteers are
also permitted to walk any available hound seven days a week 365 days a year!
The Golden Bone Pet Resort is proud to be the sole headquarters of SCG and our
partnership with them has helped over 400 greyhounds find new homes since 2002!
Ott
 |
"Ott" is a red fawn male.
He turned 4 in
January and LOVES toys.
He played with a
football (with his muzzle
on) the whole way back to
Pittsburgh and will gladly
chase a ball.
His kennel manager at
the race track said that Ott
is EXTREMELY smart and can
read people very well (he
can spot a push over :-).
He tested ok with
kitties during his first
interaction.
Ott is eagerly
awaiting a home to bring
cheer and chuckles to.

Bullet
 |
"Bullet" is a white male with brown speckles on his
ears. His birthday is August 14, 2009 and he has
high energy. He would do well in a home with a
fenced in area and someone who wanted a running or
jogging partner. This bubbly guy is very sweet and
wants your undivided attention!
