  • SCG would like to thank Linda Mann, Director of Integrated Marketing Communications Program at Point Park University, for choosing us as the non-profit model for her college course this past semester.   Linda and her dedicated students, Julie Andrews, Nicole Bowman, Leah McCray, and Terri Norman spent the past several months working hard to produce an extensive marketing and communications model for SCG in the Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania counties.  The students put together an extensive booklet that included over 60 pages of research, recommendations, and evaluations for what SCG can do to reach out to new adopters and volunteers and also to create additional interest in greyhound rescue.  Their efforts will help promote and open new avenues for our program to grow and become the most recognized greyhound rescue group in Southwestern Pennsylvania!  Thank you for partnering with SCG and helping our program in more ways than you could imagine!  What a "greyt" way to finish 2009!

  • UPDATE: The August 2009 issue of Whirl Magazine features an exclusive interview with and photographs of Mrs. Howard Stern, Pittsburgh’s own Beth Ostrosky Stern.  August 12th the magazine and Steel City Greyhounds were featured on KDKA.  To watch the video, go to the KDKA Video Library, and type Steel City Greyhounds in search.

The model and spokesperson for the North Shore Animal Rescue League poses in high fashion from Halston and Marchesa with rescued dogs from Pittsburgh's own Steel City Greyhounds. “My request is for people to never buy from a pet store and to visit their local shelter. If people want to buy a purebred, they should know that 25 percent of the animals at shelters are purebred,” Stern told WHIRL.
